Samuel Dominguez

Samuel Domínguez (b. 1995, Santiago, Chile) is a London-based artist working across sculpture, sound, moving image and installation. He studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Universidad Finis Terrae, and completed an MA in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art.

Domínguez’s work investigates materiality, perception, and the intersections between scientific inquiry and artistic practice. Engaging with spatial and time-based experimentation, his installations and performances explore the resonance of plant migration, science-fiction, and ecologies. His work has been exhibited in Chile, Argentina, Peru, the USA, Italy, the UK, South Korea, and Croatia.

Solo exhibitions include Cyborg Botanies, Galería Patricia Ready, Santiago (2025); What Happened After I Left, Mahara+Co, Miami (2024); Terrestres, Factoría Santa Rosa, Santiago (2023); ASCENSO (unplugged), Galería AFA, Santiago (2019); and RDCN, Sala Andacollo, Santiago (2017). Selected group exhibitions include Galpón Independencia, Santiago (2024); Somers Gallery, London (2024); Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Santiago (2023); Galería Barrios Bajos, Valdivia (2022); Standpoint Gallery, London (2022); Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh (2022); Multimedia Cultural Centre, Split (2021); Kurt Kurt Gallery, Berlin (2021); VitrinaLab Foundation, Miami (2020); Galería Patricia Ready, Santiago (2019); Parque de las Esculturas, Santiago (2019); Museo de Artes Visuales (MAVI), Santiago (2018); and CICA Museum, South Korea (2016).

He has performed live at Hauser & Wirth, London, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Santiago. In 2021, he represented Chile at the Ars Electronica Festival, collaborating with Fundación Mustakis and ALMA Observatory. Domínguez has led research and curatorial projects for Galería Patricia Ready, Santiago, and the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome. He has lectured at the Whitechapel Gallery and the University for the Creative Arts. In 2022, he was shortlisted for the Frieze Sculpture Commission at OWO, London.

He has been awarded the Gilbert Bayes / RCA Award (2022), the Chile Crea Award (2020), and the MAVI / BHP Award (2018).
